Support to Help You Take Flight

Academic advisors can help you plan your schedule, select classes, and stay on track for graduation. Talk to an advisor in your major or visit an "exploring" advisor to turn your interests into your next step.

It Takes a Flock

Chatting with a professor. Studying with a friend. Academic support is more than tutoring. (Though we have that, too.) Our on-campus communities are designed to help you succeed in and out of the classroom.

  • Three students talk together around a table in a campus lounge.

    Academic Residential Communities

Live with peers who share your interests in faculty-led communities that support your academic and personal growth.

  • A faculty member reviews a laptop with a student.

    Faculty Mentorship

Our faculty in residence and faculty fellows are in and around the residence halls, making it easy for you to connect, ask questions, and get support.

  • Five students pose together outside on campus.

    First-Year Programs

Discover, learn, and thrive through a First-Year Interest Group, Seminar, or Community. All are designed to help you transition to Duck life.

The ARC community is where I feel comfortable receiving help, making connections, and sharing interests. Without it, I wouldn’t have found my best friend, favorite advisor, and activities such as Flight School and Women in Business.

Sally Garner smiles for a portrait.

I work with undergraduates on their major and career exploration in addition to schedule planning. By listening to their stories, I get to understand what kind of journey they want to make of their college experience. I have the opportunity to support them in making that happen, so that’s an element that I definitely love.

Student Support Spotlight:
Jedi Thonthaengthai

I got plugged in with the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence because of the New Student Fall Retreat, and that provided a bridge for me into academic advising and support so much earlier compared to other students. It helped me step in the right direction early on, and I’m so grateful for that.

His Academic Support Story

Early in his coursework, Jedi experienced test anxiety that made it difficult to demonstrate his learning. With guidance from an advisor, he was able to access alternative testing resources that allowed him to take exams in a different format, which he shared was a tremendous help.
